The firefighting teams of the Sharjah Civil Defene were able to control a fire that broke out in a house in Al Suyoh area 16 on Tuesday morning.
The fire caused death of a citizen, after he was transferred to the hospital through the National Ambulance as he was suffering from suffocation, while his daughter suffered severe burns. It also gutted four rooms of the house.
The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority stated that the operations room received a report at 4:27 am, stating that a fire had erupted in a house in Suyoh 16 area.
Instantly, a firefighting team and rescue team were dispatched to the location from the Saja’a Station, he Authority added.
It was found that a 12-year-old girl sustained burns in the yard of the house, as she was provided with first aid and then transferred to hospital by the National Ambulance.
"Also the father was taken out of one of the rooms, where he was suffering from suffocation as a result of smoke inhalation. Both were transferred to a hospital in Sharjah," the Authority said.
The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority appealed to all members of society to follow prevention and safety measures, install smoke detectors, ensure that all unnecessary electrical appliances are shut down before going to bed and not overloaded, and conduct periodic maintenance of all devices in the house to avoid fire accidents, and thus exposure to death or serious injuries.
