The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld a verdict issued by the Court of First Instance sentencing an Asian woman to two years in jail to be followed by deportation
After being convicted of attempting to kill her boyfriend’s wife when she visited their house in Al Qusais area. The court also ordered that the civil lawsuit be referred to the competent court.
The case dated back to October last year when an Asian reported to the police that his wife had been stabbed in their house.
He stated that he was surprised by the visit of the defendant, who was his relative and both had had a 15-year affair that reached its climax in the past year.
The defendant called him on the same day and told him that she wanted to come to his house and talk about their relationship but he told her not to come, he said.
"She, however, came to his house about an hour later and tried to talk to the victim about her relationship with her husband and her love for him," he added.
The man stated in the interrogations that his wife refused to listen to the defendant and the latter took her by surprise and stabbed her with a knife that was in her handbag.
The defendant had stabbed his wife twice before he brought her under control and prevented her from continuing to assault his wife, he said.
The victim stated that after she had refused to listen to her, the defendant hugged her while taking out a knife from her handbag and began stabbing her in the presence of her husband and daughter.
Her husband, however, managed to catch the defendant and call the police, she said, adding that he also called an ambulance, which took her to the hospital for medical treatment.
According to the official documents, the defendant admitted that she had an illegitimate relationship with the victim’s husband, who was her relative.
She also confessed to having assaulted the victim with a knife that was in her possession.
