The Dubai Criminal Court imprisoned an African parking attendant for 3 months and ordered his deportation on charges of stealing a Rolex watch worth Dhs200,000 from a café customer’s vehicle and attempting to sell it.
The details of the case date back to April 2023, when an Arab national filed a report complaining that his precious watch had been stolen.
He pointed out that he might have lost it while he was in a café in the Business Bay area.
The complainant presented to the police documents proving his ownership of the watch and an invoice for purchasing it from a store in a European country for about Dhs200,000.
A policeman reported during interrogations that a circular was issued regarding the serial number of the watch, and the police received a signal that a person was trying to sell it to a specialised store in the Gold Souq area in Dubai.
Instantly, a patrol near the place was notified, where the suspect was arrested.
The suspect stated that he worked at a parking lot of a café in the Business Bay area, adding that the owner of a vehicle asked him to park it and he found the watch under the driver’s seat, hid it, and tried to sell it to a specialised store in Dubai before he was arrested.
