Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, visited the Korean Digital Media City (DMC) and the Seoul Film Commission on Monday morning in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of South Korea.
During his visit, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed learned about the vision of the Digital Media City and its role in new media fields, as it is considered a high-tech complex for digital technology and modern technologies in the fields of media content and digital means of broadcasting. The city is distinguished by its modern infrastructure, strategic location, and sustainable design. It is also considered a centre for various cultural exhibitions in the field of movies.
The Korean Digital Media City was established in 1997, and was modernised in 2006, to integrate the media, entertainment and technology industries. The city relies on a knowledge-based economy. It also works in the field of producing, managing and making films, e-learning, games, music and various digital media and related industries.
Due to its great development, digital advantages, and reliance on the latest advanced technological systems, the DMC has been able to be a hub for many international companies in the field of information technology. The city also organises many international exhibitions and events, especially in the field of old and new Korean films.
At the headquarters of the Seoul Film Commission, the largest institution in South Korea to support cinema, television and film production, which was established in 2002, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed reviewed the commission’s most prominent achievements in the cinema and drama sector and its role in providing support to filmmakers, as it contributed to providing support for more than 2,000 local and international production experiments, including long and short films, documentaries, advertisements, television dramas, and others.

The commission strengthens South Korea's position on the map of prestigious global media production, in addition to managing a number of diverse programmes to support producers, artists and local production companies, providing financial support, filming locations, logistical services, organising tours, operating sites and media support, and supervising the creative zone for film makers.
During his visit, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed was accompanied by Dr. Khaled Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City “Shams”; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council, and Rashid Abdullah Al Obed, Director of Sharjah Media City “Shams,” and Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
Meeting with Vice Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan Government
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed also met, in the South Korean capital, Seoul, Kim Eui Seung, Vice Mayor of the Seoul Metropolitan Government for Administrative Affairs.
During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed and Kim Eui Seung discussed the joint cultural, economic, technological and other fields relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of South Korea.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed and his accompanying delegation discussed with the Korean side enhancing cooperation opportunities between the two sides in the media, cultural and tourism fields, which will reflect positively at the level of institutions and projects by benefiting from the pioneering practices in both countries.
The meeting also discussed media initiatives, activities and projects in the Emirate of Sharjah, through which the emirate provides distinctive and purposeful media content, enhances the level, quality and role of government communication, and provides all investors with qualitative opportunities in the fields of communication and the modern media industry in all its fields.
Kim Eui Seung praised the high status of the Emirate of Sharjah with the vision and directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which enabled the emirate to obtain well-deserved international titles and awards in the cultural, heritage, historical and other fields.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed and Kim Eui Seung exchanged souvenirs, taking group photos.
