The Abu Dhabi Police have called on drivers not to get busy other than the road while driving, especially when crossing intersections and light signals, warning of the dangerous consequences that may occur due to failing to abide by instructions.
The police shared a video in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Centre within the 'Your Comment' initiative, showing a serious accident that occurred due to the driver's lack of focus on the road.
The police explained that that preoccupation with the road leads to sudden deviation perhaps because of use of phone to browse the Internet and social networking sites, make a call, or take pictures that may lead to serious consequences and traffic accidents.
The Federal Law stipulates that the fine of jumping red light is Dhs1,000, 12 traffic points, and a 30-day-impoundment, while the financial value to release vehicle is Dhs50,000, to be paid within a maximum period of three months. In the event of non-payment of dues, the vehicle will be sold in public auction, in accordance with the law.
