His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday welcomed the historic agreement "The UAE Consensus" that was declared at conclusion of COP28, appreciating the international cooperation and global consensus for the success of COP28, which has raised $85 billion to usher in a new era of global climate action. COP28 was able to come up with a set of global declarations and pledges that are made for the first time, Sheikh Mohammed added.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, said, “We welcome the UAE Consensus of the COP28 and appreciate international cooperation and global consensus for the success of the Conference, which was able to come up with a set of global declarations and pledges that are made for the first time.”
“It has raised $85 billion to usher in a new era of global climate action,” Sheikh Mohammed added.
He continued, “We would like to thank all participating countries with their leaders, delegations and specialists, who worked as one global team to make the conference a success. It was able to establish new standards in climate action and set the UAE's position as a key player in building a sustainable future for the planet.”
“We would like also to thank all our government, security, organization and political teams, led by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed, Sheikha Mariam Bint Mohammed, Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan, Sultan Al Jaber and thousands of employees and volunteers who presented an exceptional edition of COP that translated the UAE’s position and commensurate with this international responsibility shouldered in hosting such a mega global event,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
