His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited ARADA’s projects in Aljada in Sharjah on Wednesday morning.
Sheikh Sultan was received by Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of ARADA, Prince Khalid Bin Al Waleed Bin Talal Al Saud, Vice Chairman of ARADA, and several members of the board.
Sheikh Sultan started the tour from the welcome center of “Shajar,” a nursery containing 130,000 trees carefully nurtured before being planted in Arada’s communities, spread over a 1.6 million square foot area, one of the largest nurseries in the UAE. He was briefed on the center’s services, containing numerous types of plants picked for “ARADA” projects, promoting environmental awareness.
Sheikh Sultan listened to a detailed explanation of the modern techniques used in planting trees in the nursery, which includes 50 species, including Ghaf and Acacia trees that are suitable for the climate in the country.
A visual presentation was projected to Sheikh Sultan, covering the most prominent ARADA projects in Sharjah, from sustainability and environmental preservation, to education and health, and entertainment and community service.
Sheikh Sultan learned about the various projects and facilities included in Aljada, most notably the cultural and entertainment districts, schools, retail, restaurants, cafes, and green spaces.
Sheikh Sultan toured the “Nest” student accommodation complex, consisting of 12 buildings with 2,400 housing units.
The highly secured complex’s facilities provide the students with an optimal study environment and entertainment areas, including a games room, a music hall, and a gym.
