Fog continued forming over some coastal and inland areas on Friday and lasted 9.5 hours from 12:30 after midnight until 10am.
The fog started forming on Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road heading to Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi Road heading to Liwa and Habshan in Al Dhafra Region; on Sweihan, Rimah and Al Faqa in Al Ain City; on Al Khatam, Al Wathba and Arjaan in Abu Dhabi; on Al Ruwayyah, Seeh Al Salam, Al Lisaili and Al Minhad in Dubai; on Al Dhaid in Sharjah and other separate areas.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers to be cautious due to the low horizontal visibility during the fog and to abide by the varying speed limit as shown on the electronic traffic signs.
Due to the fog, the Abu Dhabi Police reduced the speed limit to 80 km/h on 12 main roads in the emirate. These included Ghayathi-Bida Zayed Road; Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (Telal Sweihan-Kubri Bridge); Al Sahil Station-Hameem; Madinat Zayed-Al Mirfa; Abu Dhabi-Al Ain (Rimah-Al Khazna); Al Ain-Dubai Road (Al Jubaib-Al Hayar); Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (Al Khazna-Al Muhairi Tunnel), Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway (Hameem-Al Nof), Salama Bint Butti-Liwa Street; Madinat Zayed-Ghayathi Road; Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road and Al Wagan-Al Qoah Road.
The lowest temperature of 9.9 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 12:00 midnight, while the second lowest temperature of 10.9 degrees Celsius was recorded in Damtha at 04:00 UAE local time.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on road users and motorists to take caution and follow traffic guidelines during the fog when the horizontal visibility is at its lowest at times in some inland and coastal areas.
