The Pakistani citizen, Imran, and his daughter died of suffocation in the fire that erupted in a residential building in Muwaileh. Other members of the family sustained multiple injuries in the incident.
The operations room at the Sharjah General Directorate of Civil Defence received a report on a fire that broke out in a third-floor apartment of a building in Muwaileh at 2am on Thursday.
The Sharjah Civil Defence vehicles and national ambulances rushed to the scene of the fire where the Pakistani man lived with his wife and three children.
As soon as they arrived at the scene, the fire brigades began immediately evacuating the entire three-storey building of its residents and dealing with the fire in the residential apartment.
The firefighters managed to bring the fire under control in record time and started cooling the site before handing it over to the competent authorities.
As a result of the fire, the family breadwinner in his thirties and his daughter, 11, died of suffocation. The wife sustained serious injuries while her daughter aged nine and son aged five sustained minor injuries. They were all taken by the national ambulance to Al Qassimi Hospital for treatment.
The file of the accident was referred to the competent police station to probe the cause of the fire.
The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai and Northern Emirates has assured full support and assistance to the surviving members of the family.
“The officials from the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai are in contact with the company wherein the deceased Imran Khan was employed and we assure our full support in these difficult times,” the official statement issued by the Press Section on Thursday said.
