His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed the Department of Town Planning and Survey in Sharjah to halt the distribution of plots of land in the old Shabiya, in Lulu'iyah area in Khorfakkan.
The halting of land distribution in that area has come under the directives of His Highness Ruler of Sharjah in preparation for carrying out future projects there, or the expansion of the residential neighbourhoods.
Sheikh Sultan also instructed not to allow those who had been previously granted or obtained lands in that area to build on them, and to give to them other plots of land in other areas.
The move came in response from His Highness, to a female caller to the “Direct Line” programme, which is broadcast via Sharjah Broadcast Authority (SBA) with the media Mohammed Khalaf.
In the meantime, live via the programme, Khalid Bin Falah Al Suwaidi, Director of Customer Service at Sharjah Municipality, said that farms are not allowed to be used as holiday homes, warehouses, or workers' housing, because this is illegal.
He stressed that every wrong practice in farms must stop, because the government of Sharjah had given them to citizens for specific purposes, only related to agriculture.
