President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday received Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, in the presence of Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council.
During the meeting, held at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Kurtulmuş, who conveyed the greetings of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey, and his wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the UAE. In turn, Sheikh Mohamed conveyed his best regards to the Turkish President and his wishes for further development and prosperity for his country and its people.
Sheikh Mohamed and Kurtulmuş discussed relations between the UAE and Turkey and ways to enhance ties at all levels, in addition to several issues of mutual interest.
The meeting also emphasised the importance of parliamentary relations in achieving the aims of their developmental partnership, building bridges of cooperation and convergence between their peoples, supporting common causes regionally and globally, and the role of parliaments in promoting peace, dialogue, and shared humanitarian values worldwide.
52nd Union Day celebrations team
Sheikh Mohamed on Tuesday also met with members of the team that worked on the delivery of the UAE’s 52nd Union Day celebrations.
During the reception, which took place at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed expressed his appreciation for the team’s efforts towards making the special national occasion a success.
The delegation stated their pleasure in having contributed to organising the official Union Day event, which reflected sentiments of pride in the nation’s unity and celebrated its achievements and aspirations.
The team members also expressed their appreciation for the support they had received during the successful delivery of the UAE Union Day celebrations.
FGIC projects
Sheikh Mohamed was also briefed on Tuesday on the key initiatives and future projects of the Federal Geographic Information Centre (FGIC).

During the briefing, which took place at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed was presented with a copy of the UAE’s ‘General Map’ in both Arabic and English.
Officials from the Federal Geographic Information Centre outlined a number of key initiatives undertaken since the establishment of the Centre, including the Union Atlas, a pioneering project that provides a database of reliable spatial geographic and statistical information.
Intended to benefit various sectors across the country, particularly in the areas of education, health, the economy, and environment, the Union Atlas also highlights the achievements of the UAE and explores its history and cultural heritage.
Other FGIC projects covered in the briefing included the National Geospatial Features Catalogue, which assigns definitions and codes to every geographic feature within the national spatial framework.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed noted the Centre’s vital role in enhancing the UAE’s development plans through its provision of a foundational geographic information system and detailed spatial data covering regions across the country.
Sheikh Mohamed also highlighted the Centre's contribution to standardising the criteria and specifications for such information in collaboration with its strategic partners.
The President commended the Centre and its staff for supporting scientific research on the economic, geographic, and social aspects of the UAE, and for providing an official reference for all spatial geographic information across the country.
The delegation, who included His Excellency Dr Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Chairman of the Centre's Board of Directors, and Hamed Al Kaabi, the General Manager of the Centre, expressed their appreciation for the UAE leadership’s role in supporting the Centre's projects and national initiatives that serve various sectors throughout the country.
