A gang of 7 comprising African and Asian nationalities stole Dhs1.5 million and a surveillance camera with its storage device, from a general trading company in Dubai, after they stormed it and threatened to kill its owner and two people with knives.
The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced them all to two years in jail, to be followed by deportation after serving their sentences, and fined them jointly the money they stole.
The court also acquitted two people of the charge of participating in the crime.
According to the case file, which took place in October 2023 in Naif area of Dubai, an Asian owner of a general trading company filed a report stating that his company had been robbed and he had been threatened to death.
He reported that three women knocked on his company’s door while he was inside it with his son and his nephew, who opened the door thinking they were customers, but the three women pulled out knives which were hidden inside their clothes and threatened his son and nephew by putting knives on their necks, while a number of people entered the company and asked them for money they had, otherwise they would kill them.
So they allegedly guided them to the place of the money, where they stole Dhs1.5 million, the surveillance camera and its recording device, and fled the place.
A policeman reported in the interrogations that an investigation team collected evidence and identified the suspects who were arrested in possession of part of the stolen money.
One of the suspects confessed that she and others robbed the company after threatening to kill its owner with a knife she had, adding that she received a call from one of the suspects who was in jail, telling her that another person would contact her to help him in a theft in return for Dhs5,000.
That person actually contacted her and agreed with her on the date for carrying out the theft.
Another suspect confessed that she received Dhs50,000 from one of the suspects, her share of which was Dhs5,000 and she gave the remaining amount to another woman and one of the suspects participating in the crime.
The police arrested another suspect in possession of Dhs90,000, which he admitted was part of the stolen money.
