His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued Administrative decree No2 for the year 2024, organising some fishing regulations in Kalba.
According to the decree, Kalba fishermen can only pass through the banned areas designated by buoys, without doing any fishing activities to reach fishing areas easily and smoothly.
Also, they are not allowed to export and sell fish outside Kalba markets.
The decree also stipulated that fisherman who have been badly affected by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) procedures, will be compensated for their confiscated and destroyed equipment and for the period of unemployment caused by the procedures.
A committee will be formed to study and propose the proper compensation for them and submit it for approval.
This committee will include Major General Saif Mohammed Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police, Ali Ahmed Ali Abu Ghazin, Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority (SFRA) and Mohammed Bin Shahrain, President of the Kalba Fishermen’s Association.
