The lowest temperature recorded in the country on Thursday was 3.8°C at 12:30 am in Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah, while Rakna area in Al Ain recorded 4.5°C at 4:45 am, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported.
In the meantime, scattered areas witnessed light rain, like South Muzaira in the Al Dhafra region, Abu Dhabi, and other areas, the NCM added.
It has also expected that the weather on Friday will be fair to partly cloudy with low clouds to tower over scattered areas, especially northward and eastward. It is also expected to be humid by night and Saturday morning, with a probability of fog or mist formation over some internal and coastal areas. The winds will be light to moderate, northwesterly to northeasterly, and freshening at times, with a speed of 10 – 25 reaching up to 35 km/hr. The sea will be moderate to slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight in Sea of Oman.
The Saturday’s weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy with clouds to increase gradually by night and Sunday morning over islands and some western and coastal parts with a chance of rainfall. Temperature tends to increase. The winds will be light to moderate, northeasterly to southeasterly, and freshening at times with a speed of 10 – 20 reaching up to 35 km/hr. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.
A weather condition is expected to affect the country for 3 days, starting next Sunday (February 11) to Tuesday (February 13), witnessing heavy rains at intervals, lightning and thunder at times with the possibility of hail falling over some areas with a decrease in temperatures, NCM added.
“This weather condition will be due to an extension of a shallow air depression from the southwest, accompanied by humid southeasterly winds with an extension of an upper air depression, accompanied by a cold air mass and western air current, as well as different amounts of clouds flowing from the west,” NCM added.
It also explained that the weather from Sunday to Tuesday would witness an increase of clouds towering over scattered areas with cumulous clouds, accompanied by rain of varying intensity at intervals, lightning and thunder sometimes, with the possibility of hail falling on some areas with a decrease in temperatures.
The winds will be moderate to fresh and sometimes strong, especially with clouds formation, stirring dust and dirt. The sea will be rough to very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and rough in the Sea of Oman, especially with cumulus clouds.
