The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported that the upper air depression has started to deepen and would affect the UAE from Sunday until next Tuesday.
NCM called on motorists to be cautious while driving during rainfall, and also advised people to stay away from places where water accumulates and flows through valleys.
Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to be cautious during rains, and to adhere to the variable speed limits shown on signs and electronic information boards.
In this regard, the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) held meetings to evaluate weather and tropical conditions, and to decide how to deal with the depression which may affect the UAE the coming period.
NCEMA stressed the readiness of the concerned authorities to deal with the depression, and to take all necessary proactive measures and plans which will be activated after studying and evaluating the situation and its consequences.
It affirmed that teams would guide the public in the event of an intensification of the depression, and would also guide them to adhere to safety requirements, specifically in areas which may witness heavy rainfall, stressing the need to drive with extreme caution and stay away from water courses, torrents, and rugged areas such as mountains.
Sunday's weather, according to NCM will be unstable, partly cloudy to cloudy, with some cumulus clouds formation and rain of different intensity, which will be accompanied by lightning and thunder in separate areas..
Winds on Sunday will be northeasterly to southeasterly, light to moderate, active and strong at times, and dust stirring, with speeds ranging from 15kmph to 30kmph and can go up to 50 kmph, NCM indicated, adding that clouds will form, which will result in low horizontal visibility.
NCM added that the sea would be turbulent with clouds in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.
Monday’s weather would be unstable and partly cloudy to cloudy with the formation of some cumulus clouds and various rains, accompanied by lightning and thunder, in various areas, with temperatures’ drop, NCM expected.
Winds on Monday will be northeasterly to southeasterly, moderate, active and strong at times, with dust-stirring winds which will result in low horizontal visibility, with speeds ranging from 20 to 35, amounting to 70 kilometres/h, according to NCM center, adding that the sea would be turbulent with clouds formation in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.
For Tuesday’s weather, NCM indicated that it would be partly cloudy to cloudy with various rainfalls accompanied by lightning and thunder, especially in the northern, eastern and coastal areas.
Winds, NCM added, would be northeasterly to southeasterly, light to moderate, active at times, and stirring dust, with speeds ranging from 15 to 25 kilometres/h, amounting to 40 kmph. The sea is expected to be rough, becoming moderate to light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.
NCM indicated that Wednesday’s weather would be partly cloudy in general, with light to moderate northeasterly to southeasterly winds, sometimes active, with speeds ranging from 15kmph to 25kmph, amounting to 35kmph, and the sea would be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.
