The Air Wing Section at Ras Al Khaimah Police rescued eight Europeans who were stranded in a rugged mountainous area 3,500 feet above sea level in the north of the emirate.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Ali Al Shehhi, Acting Head of Air Wing Section, explained that the rescue operation began when the operations room received a report stating that eight Europeans were stranded in a rugged mountainous area in the north of the emirate.
A helicopter immediately headed to the site, where the stranded people were rescued and evacuated to a safe area in co-operation with a number of competent authorities, he said, noting that they were in good health.
Underlining the readiness of the section and its staff to deal with all incoming reports according to the highest standards, Al Shehhi called on the members of society, including citizens, residents and tourists, to be cautious and take all preventive measures when heading to mountainous areas and to stay away from rugged areas and flooded valleys.
