Between Feb.20 and Feb.24, people in the country will be able to witness a special planetary conjunction at dawn over the eastern horizon in the UAE. The bright planet Venus will meet Mars during this time, after the time of dawn prayer until just before sunrise over the eastern horizon.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and a member of the Arab Union for Space Sciences and Astronomy, stated that this unique conjunction would be visible to the naked eye, weather permitting.
The apparent approach of the two planets is remarkable, although it is not an actual convergence between the two planets, but rather their apparent proximity to their location from Earth, as seen by observer from the planetarium.
Planetary conjunctions are a beautiful astronomical phenomenon that attracts both people and astronomers. They occur when the distance between two celestial bodies is less than 3 degrees in the sky. The conjunction is even more beautiful when the distance is less, especially if one of the planets involved is Venus or Jupiter, which are the brightest planets in the sky. This is a sight that should not be missed.
