The Abu Dhabi Police in collaboration with the Control and Follow-up Centre shared a video of accidents caused by distracted driving and lack of attention during traffic stoppages as part of the 'Your Comment' initiative.
The video effectively raises awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.
To ensure road safety, it is imperative that drivers follow traffic safety rules. This includes being vigilant of sudden stops of vehicles without warning on roads and during traffic flow on internal and external roads, avoiding distractions while driving, and staying alert for road surprises, the Abu Dhabi Police said.
“Drivers must be aware of the risks of using their phone while driving. Browsing the internet, using social media, making calls, taking pictures, and other behaviours can cause serious accidents,” the police added.
It is crucial to note that being distracted while driving results in a fine of Dhs800 and 4 traffic points.
