UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed the release of 735 prisoners from correctional and penal facilities, ahead of the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed will also personally cover all fines and penalties imposed on the inmates, who had been sentenced to jail terms for a variety of offences.
Ramadan, the month of dawn-to-dusk fasting, is expected to begin on Monday, but the start of the lunar month depends on the sighting of the moon.
