The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has issued an administrative closure notice to Gram Bangla Foodstuff in Abu Dhabi, with the trade licence number CN-4527013, for violating the Food Law No. 2 of 2008 and the regulations made thereunder, and for posing a risk to public health.
ADASFA has shut down the establishment due to repeated violations of food safety requirements. There were two high-risk violations, such as handling expired foodstuffs and defrosting frozen foodstuffs incorrectly, which warranted a warning to shut down.
The Authority took decisive action to ensure the safety of consumers. Furthermore, the establishment was found to be selling frozen chicken as fresh and had food items from unknown sources and some without proper labelling.
The closure will remain in effect until the reasons for it no longer exist. Once the violations have been corrected, all necessary requirements have been met, and the reasons for closure have been removed, the activity may resume, ADFSA added.
The detected and addressed violations came as part of the Authority’s inspection efforts to enhance the food safety system in Abu Dhabi. It regulates and ensures that establishments comply with food safety requirements. The Authority's inspectors conduct periodic inspections of all establishments to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
