Residents urged to exercise caution due to unstable weather over the weekend in UAE

Rain of varying intensity continued to fall on separate areas across the country on Friday.

Drizzles to moderate rain fell on north-eastern Habshan, southern Wateed and Liwa in Al Dhafra Region; Sas Al Nakhl, Al Rahba, Al Shahama and Abu Al Abyad Island in Abu Dhabi; Al Dhaher and Mezyad in Al Ain; Al Ain International Airport; Sharjah International Airport; separate areas in Umm Al Quwain; Al Tawyeen in Fujairah; Al Jazira Al Hamra in Ras Al Khaimah and other separate areas.

The lowest temperature of 14.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 7:30am, while the second lowest temperature of 17.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Al Mebrah at 7:30am.

 The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on motorist to take caution while driving under rain and to stay away from large puddles and flooded valleys. Abu Dhabi Police also called on motorists to be cautious due to the rainy weather conditions and to abide by the varying speed limits as shown on the electronic traffic signs.

Saturday’s weather is expected to be partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times in separate areas with a chance of rain on some areas. Light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 10 to 25 and up to 40 km/h, while the sea will have regular to moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf and light to moderate waves but may become rough at times in the Sea of Oman.

Sunday’s weather will be partly cloudy in general with more clouds and rain on some areas, especially the inland and southern ones. Light to moderate northwesterly to northeasterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 15 to 25 and up to 40 km/h, while the sea will have moderate to regular waves in the Arabian Gulf compared to rough to moderate waves in the Sea of Oman.

Monday’s weather will be unstable with more clouds interspersed by cumulus clouds and rain of varying intensity on separate areas. Moderate to active southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow, turning to strong and sand-stirring at times at 20 to 30 and up to 50 km/h, causing the horizontal visibility to be lower. The sea will have moderate waves, turning to rough and very rough at night in the Arabian Gulf and will have moderate waves but may become rough in the Sea of Oman.

Tuesday’s weather is expected to continue to be unstable with more clouds interspersed by cumulus clouds and rain of varying intensity on separate areas and a drop in temperature.

Moderate to active southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow, turning to strong and sand-stirring at times at 20 to 30 and up to 50 km/h, causing the horizontal visibility to be lower. The sea will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf compared to rough in the Sea of Oman.
