Heavy rain with lightning and thunder due to unstable weather conditions

Heavy rains with lightning and thunder fell on separate areas across the country on Sunday due to the unstable weather conditions prevailing in the country, which would continue until Wednesday.

Moderate to heavy rains fell on separate areas in Al Ain City, on Habshan, Bu Hasa, Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi and Liwa in Al Dhafra Region and on Al Saadiyat Island and Musaffah in Abu Dhabi, among others.

The lowest temperature of 12.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 04:00am, while the second lowest temperature of 13.6 was recorded in Jebel Al Rahba at 03:45am.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on motorists to take caution while driving under rain and to stay away from large puddles and flooded valleys, while Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to be cautious to be cautious due to the rainy weather conditions and to abide by the varying speed limit as shown on the electronic traffic signs.

According to the NCM, the air depression would deepen on Monday and Tuesday with more cumulus clouds forming over separate areas accompanied by rains of varying intensity with lightning and thunder and possibly hail at times in some areas.

Clouds would gradually decrease on Wednesday but rain would continue to fall during the day in some areas, especially the northern and eastern one, with a drop in temperature.

Moderate to active southeasterly to northeasterly and northwesterly winds would blow, turning to strong and sand-stirring at times, causing the horizontal visibility to be lower and some solid objects to fly, the NCM said, adding that the wind speed would decrease on Wednesday to moderate to active at times.

The sea would have moderate waves but might turn into rough and very rough at times on Monday and Tuesday in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, it said, adding that on Wednesday, the sea would have moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
