Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), in collaboration with the Emirates Humanitarian City, has completed the second phase of providing care and rehabilitation for People of Determination and injured Palestinians who have been transferred to the UAE for treatment.
This initiative is in accordance with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide medical treatment for 1,000 injured children and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip at the UAE’s hospitals.
ZHO’s services include care and rehabilitation, evaluation sessions, various therapeutic sessions, and the fitting of prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, medical braces, and hearing aids.
Abdullah Al Humaidan, ZHO Secretary-General, said that the organisation’s work is part of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of civilians in Gaza due to the escalating humanitarian crisis, particularly impacting women, children, and the elderly.
Through its integrated central workshop for prosthetic limbs and orthopedics, the organisation has provided necessary support for fitting prosthetic limbs and medical braces and offered devices needed for rehabilitation.
Al Humaidan added that the organisation does not only manufacture prosthetic limbs but also provides physical therapy, training on prosthetic limbs use, psychological support and necessary rehabilitation for individuals to adapt to the daily use of these prosthetics.
The workshop team has successfully provided prosthetic limbs and support to the wounded from Gaza who have been received by the Emirates Humanitarian City; covering ages from one year to 60 years.
