His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Thursday visited the "Above the Clouds" project situated on Al Deem Mountain in Kalba city, at an altitude of 850 metres above sea level.
Sharjah Ruler observed the construction works of the "Above the Clouds" retreat, shaped like a crescent, covering a total area of 4,700 square meters.
The retreat comprises two floors; the first floor will feature a restaurant, an open café, and a reading area, while the ground floor will accommodate a multipurpose hall, a prayer room, restrooms, multiple viewing platforms, a theater, green areas, and children's playgrounds.
Its unique location provides visitors with a panoramic view of the city's coastline and surrounding mountain valleys, offering a captivating experience and holding significant cultural and social importance.
Sheikh Sultan also reviewed the road network plans to serve the new projects, including two roads totaling 10 kilometres and two bridges.
One road connects Wadi Al Helo Tunnel to the new Sharjah-Kalba Road, while the other leads to the mountain peak and development projects, featuring three lanes for vehicles with high safety standards to facilitate bus and heavy vehicle access.
Additionally, he was briefed on the design of an international stadium project according to FIFA standards, to serve Kalba Sports and Cultural Club on approximately 50,000 square metres of land on Mount Daym.
The stadium, situated 650 metres above sea level, will boast terraced seating, providing an open view of Kalba city, along with VIP platforms, media rooms, commercial services, and health facilities.
Sheikh Sultan also learned about the proposed design of a tourist sports hotel adjacent to the "Above the Clouds" retreat, featuring 100 rooms overlooking Kalba's coastline, connected to the retreat via a separate pedestrian path.
During the tour, Sheikh Sultan was accompanied by Yousef Khamis Al Othmani - Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority; consultant Engineer Salah Bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of Authority for Initiatives Implementation 'Mubadara;' Dr Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, the Chairman of Kalba Municipality; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB); and Mohammed Obaid Al Yamahi, Chairman of Kalba Football Club.
