Dubai Appellate Court upheld the Court of First instance’s ruling to jail a medical technician at a private hospital after being charged with attempting to harass a female patient inside the X-ray room, taking advantage of her being alone with him.
The technician will be deported after serving his sentence,
The case dates back to March 2024 when an Arab national filed a report stating that his wife had been harassed inside a private hospital.
He further explained that when he went to the hospital with his wife for her neck pain treatment, the attending physician requested a CT scan, so he went with her to the X-ray department to book an appointment and asked for a woman to perform the procedure.
However, the receptionist informed him that there was no woman available so he agreed to have a male technician perform it but the receptionist refused to allow him to accompany his wife inside the X-ray room.
The victim stated during interrogations that the suspect asked her to take of some of her clothes from a place away from her place of pain so that he could perform the CT scan, and then he tried to harass her.
She reportedly screamed for help but her husband did not hear her. She allegedly escaped and entered the clothes changing room then hurried out to tell her husband about the incident, so he reported the incident to the police.
A police officer reported that the suspect denied during interrogations that he attempted to harass the victim and that he asked her to remove some of her clothes because it was hard to perform the x-rays while wearing them.
The evidence showed that the suspect premeditatedly attempted to harass the victim.
