The Dubai Police's People of Determination Empowerment Council, in collaboration with the Al Noor Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities, organised an educational and awareness initiative for parents and specialists about safety and security protocols for students with determination.
Major Abdullah Al Shamsi, Chairman of the People of Determination Empowerment Council, emphasised that this event aligns with the Council's broader efforts to empower the people of determination community.
"This initiative supports the national policy of empowering people of determination and the 'My Community... A City for Everyone' strategy, which aims to make Dubai a fully-friendly city for people of determination," he explained.
Maj. Al Shamsi added, "The Council places great importance on enhancing awareness, interaction, empowerment, and integration of people of determination across educational, professional, and social spheres." We engage families, the government and private sectors, and educational institutions to create an inclusive society that fulfills its obligations and enhances the quality of life for people of determination."
Meanwhile, Ranjini Ramnath, Director of Al Noor Training Center, expressed delight at this collaborative initiative, which aligns with the objectives of both sides, which are to support and empower people of determination. She explained that the training aims to raise awareness among families about the support services provided by government entities like airports and police to equip families with the knowledge and resources to interact optimally with their loved ones with determination.
The initiative included workshops and lectures on how to interact with people of determination based on their specific disabilities. It also raised awareness about Dubai Police's services and communication channels for people of determination through police stations, the smart police stations (SPS), and the Dubai Police app.
