The Anti-Narcotics Department at Umm Al Quwain Police has successfully apprehended two individuals who had buried a quantity of illicit substances that exceeded 10 kilograms in a desert area in the emirate.
The suspects have been subsequently referred to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings, the police said.
Following the information from the General Directorate of Narcotics Control at Dubai Police regarding the potential involvement of two individuals in the illicit transportation of narcotic substances to a desert area within jurisdiction of the Umm Al Quwain Police, a task force entrusted in collaboration with the Federal Drug Control Directorate at the Ministry of Interior.
Subsequent investigation led to the identification, apprehension, and seizure of the narcotic substances, in accordance with the relevant legal procedures, Umm Al Quwain Police added.
Lieutenant Colonel Jamal Saeed Al Ketbi, Head of the Anti-Narcotics Department at the General Command of Umm Al Quwain Police, confirmed that anti-narcotics men have a high level of preparedness that enables them to deter weak-minded drug dealers, calling on members of society to cooperate with the security services in confronting the promoters of this scourge by informing the competent authorities if they detect any suspicious case by calling the number (80044), and contributing to protecting our youth from falling prey to the clutches of drug gangs.
