The Sustainable City in Dubai, the first fully sustainable community in the region, has announced, in collaboration with “Dubai Future Labs” and the technological company, “Lyve Global,” the launch of three self-driving robots to deliver products from restaurants and stores to residents in the area.
The robots were developed at “Dubai Future Labs” affiliated to the Dubai Future Foundation, using state-of-the-art advanced technology.
They are designed to enhance the efficiency of transportation operations, reduce delivery costs and time, and limit harmful emissions resulting from traditional operations.
The robots utilise a smart interface, supported by the technological company, Lyve Global, which includes a range of advanced features and innovative technologies.
"The robots have been developed to deliver products swiftly, within 30 minutes, and can navigate safely and independently on the sidewalks of the Sustainable City in Dubai. They will be able to locate charging stations without human intervention," said Khalifa Al Qama, Director of Dubai Future Labs.
Fadi Al Faris, General Manager of NZE Solutions, affiliated to the SEE Group, the developer of The Sustainable City in Dubai, said: "The Sustainable City is the ideal place to test and deploy autonomous delivery robots and a launchpad for their future proliferation. The city's flexible design supports its readiness for the future and its ability to adopt the latest technologies and adapt to changing requirements. The city also serves as a living lab to experiment the latest innovations aiming to reduce emissions and improve the quality of life for residents, in line with our plans to lead the way towards a zero-emission future."
