DUBAI: Dubai Court of Appeal upheld a verdict issued by the Court of First Instance sentencing an Asian to three months in jail to be followed by deportation after he had been convicted of abusing narcotics and possessing 89 grams of heroin.
The case dated back to January last year when the General Department of Anti-Narcotics received a tip-off that the defendant was available in Al Satwa area, abusing narcotics and psychotropic substances and possessing a quantity of them.
A policeman stated in the interrogations that he moved with members of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics to the defendant’s residence in Al Satwa area, where he was arrested. After searching his residence, three rolls containing heroin were found and the defendant was taken to the department.
According to the report of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, the sample contained six aluminum foil wraps with 89 grams of heroin and various narcotic substances inside. The defendant’s blood sample showed that it contained narcotic substances.
On interrogation, the defendant admitted that he possessed the heroin and narcotic substances from an Asian he met through WhatsApp, who sent him the coordinates of the location of the drugs and received the price through a bank transfer to his account.
