The authorities in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain region have issued severe weather alert and urged residents and citizens to avoid valleys and mountainous areas as torrential rain hit the Emirate.
The Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to exercise caution due to the rainy weather and urged them to follow the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.
The media office said, “Various areas of Al Ain city have witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall. The public is advised to adhere to the modified speed limits, avoid valleys, provide first aid kits and prepare alternative light sources.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said “Chance of convective clouds formation associated with rainfall and fresh winds with a speed of 40 km/hr over some Eastern areas from 18:00 until 22:00 Tuesday 27/08/2024”
The NCM said most areas of Al Ain is witnessing heavy rain with hail.
The NCM also said that the highest temperature recorded over the UAE on Tuesday was at 50.7°C in Sweihan, Al Ain at 13:30 Local time.
