The driver fled the scene, but the police quickly apprehended him with the help of CCTV footage.
Shiffin was badly injured. He was taken to Al Ain hospital. Experts said he suffered brain damage.
His father, who was in Saudi Arabia that time, left the job and rushed to the UAE as soon he heard about the tragedy.
After two weeks of treatment, he was transferred to a private hospital for a better care.
Despite the intensive medical attention, doctors determined that Shiffin had lost the functionality of about ten organs due to the brain injury and he was placed in a ventilator. He was later moved to a hospital in Abu Dhabi.
The sight of his son lying motionless on the hospital bed was unbearable, but
Shiffin’s father Ummer refused to give up.
Days after days he stood vigil outside the ventilator that kept his son alive.
Every day he watched intently, hoping to see the slightest movement.
Miraculously with continuous and best possible medical treatment in the UAE for a period of 18 months, Shiffin showed slight improvement and began to move his head, with this recovery it was decided to take him to India for further treatment.
Fran Gulf Advocates, headed by Easa Anees, with the expertise of Advocates U.C. Abdullah and Mohammed Fazil, took up the case with unwavering commitment. They sought justice and fair compensation, aiming to provide essential support for long term treatment and rehabilitation.

Initially, the Insurance Authority Court awarded Dhs 2.8 million as compensation, considering Shiffin’s physical and mental state.
However, the legal team, understanding the extent of his injuries and future medical needs, argued for a higher compensation and their dedicated efforts lead to an increased award of Dhs 5 million by the Appellate Court, later upheld by Supreme Court.
This landmark judgement ruling is not only a significant victory for Shiffin and his family but also sets a precedent in the UAE’s judicial history.
Fran Gulf Advocates had previously secured a similar Dhs 5 million compensation for an Indian youth involved in the infamous Oman bus accident in Dubai Rashidiya, further solidifying their expertise and commitment to justice.
