Canadian singer Justin Bieber was photographed wearing a red keffiyeh on his head and a grey hooded jacket, representing the Jordanian-Palestinian keffiyeh, while leaving a US hotel in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The matter attracted the attention of numerous international newspapers, particularly given that the 30-year-old singer had previously been the subject of intense criticism for posting a photograph at the outset of the conflict on his Instagram account, in which he offered prayers for Israel.
However, he subsequently deleted the image following a barrage of criticism, particularly given that the photograph depicted the devastation in Gaza.
Despite maintaining a silence on the conflict between Israel and Gaza, Bieber's recent appearance with the keffiyeh has prompted speculation about a potential shift in his stance on the ongoing war.
The photographs of Bieber wearing the keffiyeh also attracted the attention of European newspapers. The German newspaper Bild, for instance, wrote: 'Do you really know what you're wearing, Justin?' "Is this an attempt to convey a political message?"
It is notable that the singer has not yet responded, and that no official statement has been issued regarding his wearing of the Jordanian-Palestinian keffiyeh.
