There are four digital channels for applying for all types of entry or residence visas in the United Arab Emirates, according to the Digital Government (DGOV).
DGOV has invited foreigners who wish to visit the UAE to take advantage of these channels if they want to obtain a Golden Residency visa, a Green Residency visa, an Exploration Visa for Business Establishment Opportunities, a Virtual Work Residency Visa, a Work Permit, a Visit Visa, or a Tourism Visa.
According to the DGOV, these channels include: Smart Channels for Residency and Citizenship (E-channels), the official website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA )- Dubai, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship's application on the Google Play Store or Apple Store and the “Dubai Now” application on the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
Additionally, applications can be submitted through registered typing offices with the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship or authorized typing offices with the GDRFA.
The typing office will handle the application process, and after approval, the applicant receives a confirmation SMS and the original entry visa.
When the entry permit is issued to enter the country, the holder of the permit has to complete residence visa procedures. Entry permits are also issued for short visits for specific purposes such as medical treatment, work missions, tourism, transit, attending events, visiting relatives, or exploring job opportunities, DGOV clarified, adding that the validity period of entry permits for non-residence purposes ranges from two days (transit visa) to five years after entering the country
