Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired the council’s meeting at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office.
During their weekly meeting, the council discussed updates on governmental work in the emirate, reviewed reports from departments and government bodies, and received updates on development projects in various cities and regions.
In line with the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at enhancing healthy living and providing facilities for all age groups, the council approved the establishment of the Sharjah Healthy Cities Network. This initiative extends Sharjah’s recognition as a Healthy City by the World Health Organisation.
The network aims to enhance cooperation in implementing policies that support health and well-being, as well as regulations and standards throughout Sharjah, in alignment with the World Health Organisation’s Healthy Cities programme.
The council also reviewed the report of the Permanent Committee for Deprived of Social Care, which outlined the committee’s work during 2023. The committee held 48 meetings and issued 620 decisions, focusing on establishing general policies for social welfare, including social and financial sponsorship. The report highlighted the organisation of a registry for families approved to adopt unidentified children.
Additionally, the committee worked to secure the rights of those deprived of social care by identifying foster families or social care institutions designated for fostering. The committee also proposed necessary regulations and systems for law enforcement.
The council was briefed on the response of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority to the recommendations from the Sharjah Consultative Council regarding the authority’s policies. The response included efforts to implement the recommendations in coordination with relevant entities.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, and Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, also attended the meeting.
CROWN PRINCE OF SHARJAH OPENS 2ND SESSION OF CONSULTATIVE COUNCIL: Under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, will inaugurate the second ordinary session of the 11th legislative term of the Sharjah Consultative Council on Thursday morning at the Council’s headquarters.
This second session follows the issuance of Emiri Decree No. (56) of 2024 by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, inviting the Sharjah Consultative Council to convene for its second ordinary session of the 11th legislative term, which is scheduled for Thursday, 10th October 2024.
During the first ordinary session of the 11th legislative term, which took place from December 2023 until June 2024, the Sharjah Consultative Council achieved numerous accomplishments. The Council conducted 12 public sessions, where five significant draft laws were discussed, along with three general topics focusing on the policies of various departments and authorities, including the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the Sharjah Fisheries Authority, and the Department of Islamic Affairs.
These discussions led to the formulation of 20 recommendations that embody the members’ perspectives and ideas aimed at achieving comprehensive development in the emirate and improving the overall performance and quality of services.
The sessions were marked by active participation from both male and female members, with 55 members requesting to speak. Throughout the sessions, there were a total of 150 contributions from members, reflecting a robust engagement and dedication to thoroughly and comprehensively address various issues.
