Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court ordered a young man to pay Dhs53,116 to his father for using his credit card to pay bills.
The details of the case date back to an earlier time when the father filed a lawsuit against his son, demanding that he pay him Dhs97,780, along with legal fees and expenses.
The plaintiff stated that he was on a medical treatment trip abroad and had some obligations within the country so he gave his son his credit card to pay the bills, but the son took the money and did not fulfill the obligations.
The plaintiff attached copies of account statements and WhatsApp chat with his son.
During the hearing, the appellee requested that the oath be performed by his father, but the court rejected his request, explaining that the expert appointed by the court, whom the court trusts, concluded that the total amount the son is obligated to pay his father is Dhs21,436.
The court also noted that, based on the attached statements, which the appellee did not deny, the son withdrew Dhs11,700 and transferred Dhs19,980 to his account.
The court then directed the appellee to take the supplementary oath, but he refused to do so during the scheduled session. As a result, the court decided that he had withdrawn those funds, and ordered him to repay Dhs53,116 to his father.
