Various areas of the UAE experienced fog formation and reduced horizontal visibility for 7 and a half hours on Tuesday morning, starting from 1:30am until 9am, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Rains of varying intensity also fell on the country due to being affected by a weak surface low-pressure system, accompanied by an upper-level high-pressure system in the upper atmospheric layers, NCM added.
Fog formed in different areas, including Sweihan, Al Khazna, Nahal, and Al Sad in the city of Al Ain, as well as in Al Ajban, Al Khatem, Razin, Al Shamkha, Al Falah, and Bani Yas in Abu Dhabi, NCM reported, adding that it also formed in Mina Jabal Ali in Dubai.
The NCM reported that rains of varying intensity fell on Asfi in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Baha in Fujairah, and other scattered areas.
The lowest temperature recorded in the UAE on Tuesday morning, 15.8ºC, was in Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah, at 05:30 of UAE local time, while the second-lowest temperature was recorded at 19.3ºC in Jebel Al Rahba at the same time.
The NCM predicts that Wednesday's weather will be sunny to partly cloudy, with a chance of some cumulus clouds forming in the east and north in the afternoon.
It will be humid at night and on Thursday morning in some coastal and inland areas, with a possibility of fog or light fog formation, especially in the west, according to NCM.
Winds will be southeasterly, turning to northwesterly and northeasterly, light to moderate in speed, and sometimes active, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 kilometres/h, amounting to 40 kilometres/h, NCM indicated, adding that the sea will be calm to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and calm in the Sea of Oman.
NCM added that Thursday's weather will be sunny to partly cloudy at times, with a chance of some cumulus clouds forming in the eastern and southern regions in the afternoon, which may be accompanied by rains.
There will be a drop in temperatures and it will be humid at night and on Friday morning in some coastal and inland areas, with a possibility of fog or light fog formation, NCM reported.
Winds will be northeasterly to northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, and sometimes active, especially over the sea, stirring up dust during the day, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 kilometres/h, amounting to 40 kilometres/h and the sea will be calm to moderate in the Arabian Gulf, becoming rough in the afternoon, and calm in the Sea of Oman.
NCM indicated that Friday's weather will be sunny to partly cloudy at times, with a chance of some cumulus clouds forming in the east in the afternoon and will be humid at night and on Saturday morning in some coastal and inland areas.
Winds will be northeasterly to northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, and sometimes active, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 kilometres/h, amounting to 35 kilometres/h, while the sea will be moderate to rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and calm in the Sea of Oman.
Saturday's weather is expected to be sunny to partly cloudy in general and humid at night and on Sunday morning in some coastal and inland areas, while winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, and their speed will range from 10 to 25 kilometres/h, amounting to 35 kilometres/h. The sea will be moderate to rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and calm in the Sea of Oman, NCM reported.
Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to exercise caution due to reduced horizontal visibility during fog formation. They were also advised to adhere to the variable speed limits displayed on electronic signs and boards to ensure the safety of everyone.
The speed reduction system to 80 kilometres/h has been activated on ten main roads, including Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (Al Khatem-Razin), Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (Al Wathba-Al Faya), Abu Dhabi-Suweihan Road (Civil Defence Roundabout-Suweihan Roundabout), Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (Ramah-Al Khazna), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (KIZAD-Seih Al Sedira), Al Taf Road (Suweihan Roundabout-Al Sad), Suweihan Road (Nahl-Abu Dhabi), Al Taf Road (Al Sad-Al Ajban), Truck Road (Sih al Lahma Camp Roundabout-Al Sad), and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Seih Al Sedira-Al Falah).
