Beirut port received on Friday an aid ship from the UAE carrying 2,000 tonnes of urgent relief supplies for the Lebanese people as part of the "UAE stands with Lebanon" campaign, which was launched early this October.
This ship comes within the framework of the UAE's continuous humanitarian support for our Lebanese brothers in light of the current crisis, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the follow-up of Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, and the supervision of Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development Affairs and Martyrs' Families, and Chairman of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council.
In this regard, Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Development and Organizations Affairs and Member of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council, said: “This new aid comes in the context of the UAE’s keenness to stand with the brotherly Lebanese people in these difficult circumstances. The ship carried 1,000 tonnes of food supplies and 1,000 tons of various shelter supplies, bringing the volume of aid sent so far to 2,610 tonnes.”
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi added: “These tireless efforts to enhance the emergency humanitarian response reflect the great interest of the wise leadership in providing for the needs of the brotherly Lebanese people, which embodies the lofty and fraternal humanitarian values, calling for solidarity, cooperation, synergy and support with our Lebanese brothers.”
It is worth noting that in the context of supporting the brotherly Lebanese people in light of the current circumstances, and under the directives of Sheikh Mohamed, the UAE launched on October 4 the "UAE stands with Lebanon" campaign to support the Lebanese brothers, and sent 14 aircraft, some of which were in cooperation with the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, in addition to the "UAE is with you, Lebanon" campaign, which collected 1,300 tonnes of relief supplies, with the participation of 24 Emirati donor institutions and thousands of volunteers in a sincere expression of the UAE's approach to solidarity and humanitarian cooperation.
