The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment affirmed through a tweet on X platform that the fast food meals served at McDonald's branches in the UAE are free of E. coli bacteria.
The ministry added that the authorities conduct regular inspection and evaluation processes to ensure that all food establishments comply with safety and quality standards.
It is worth mentioning that McDonald's "Quarter Pounder" burgers, made from beef, caused the death of one person and the infection of dozens with a bacterial infection in the United States of America, according to what the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention announced last Tuesday, after finding the Escherichia coli "E. coli" bacteria in those burgers.
The severity of symptoms reportedly varies according to the type of bacteria a person is infected with, as some types can cause bloody diarrhea while in certain cases, a person may be infected with a type of bacteria which leads to kidney failure, in addition to the possibility of high blood pressure, or the development of chronic kidney disease, or neurological problems, severe abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting.
