While the Tom Hanks and Cruises and the Nicole Kidmans of Hollywood will always be popular, we feel it is time to turn our attention to some new names and fresh faces. This week we are taking a look at some up-and-coming actors who are turning heads with their acting skills.
Relatively new to the acting world, Japanese-born British actor Sonoya Mizuno began as a ballet dancer and model. She made her film debut in director Alex Garland’s prominent science-fiction thriller Ex Machina in 2015. She then appeared in Michael Damian’s dance movie High Strung in 2016. Her last big role was in the hugely popular Crazy Rich Asians (2018). Mizuno has said that she will choose roles which are not just defined by her ethnicity in the future.
William Jack Poulter has been around for a while, he even won a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2013 for his role in We’re the Millers. But the game has changed for the 26-year-old English actor who is moving from supporting roles to leading roles. Audiences got a feel for his true talent in last year’s Black Mirror: Bandersnatch where he played a game developer. Expect more things from this rising star.
Zendaya needs no introduction. The young star is famous for her singing, her time with Disney and lately, her bigger acting roles. She reprised her role as MJ in the latest Spider-Man movie where she stars opposite Tom Holland and Samuel L. Jackson. She has the potential to turn her acting career into a much more serious one if she gets the right roles.
