While Emirati astronauts Hazzaa Al Mansoori and Sultan Al Neyadi prepare for the historic mission to the International Space Station, the country will be looking with pride to the skies when the auspicious launch day arrives (“Emirati astronauts undergo rigorous training in -50˚C,” Sept.18, Gulf Today).
It will also be a proud moment for Al Mansoori who will be the first Arab astronaut to reach the International Space Station. Al Mansouri is to conduct 16 researches on the reaction of vital indicators of the human body at ISS and is also scheduled to conduct a detailed tour of the space station in Arabic — a first for a Arab cosmonaut.
The UAE are pioneers in exploring new horizons, including space exploration and this will be another feather in their cap.
