It is a highly condemnable and cowardly terrorist attack in Afghanistan on Friday in which dozens of people were killed and many injured (“UAE condemns terror attack on mosque in Afghanistan,” Oct.21, Gulf Today).
The United Arab Emirates has firmly condemned a terror attack targeting a mosque in Nangahar in eastern Afghanistan during Friday prayers that resulted in the death and injury of a number of worshippers.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) affirmed in a statement that the UAE expresses its utter condemnation of this criminal act and rejects all forms of violence and terrorism that destabilise security and stability while undermining all religious and humanitarian principles.
The blasts in a mosque in eastern Afghanistan during Friday prayers killed at least 62 men who had gathered for worship, local officials said.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for Nangarhar province’s governor, said there were multiple blasts from explosives placed inside the mosque in the Jawdara area of Haska Mena district.
The roof of the mosque had completely caved in.
Volunteers carry an injured man on a stretcher to a hospital, following a bomb blast in Afghanistan.
Sohrab Qaderi, a member of the provincial council in Nangarhar, while expecting a rise in the number of casualties, said that more than 100 others had been wounded.
Poor people of Afghanistan are being killed for the last more than four decades. There should be an end to the Afghan conflict. It is time for powerful countries in the world to prove that they want peace in war-ridden Afghanistan.
I am sure the fight will not solve the problem but sincere negotiations between the all stakeholders in Afghanistan can bring about peace and stability in the country.
The peace in Afghanistan will ensure ultimate peace and stability in the whole region.
