Face the tune

No one is above the law. The country’s law is supreme. There is no other way for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf other than to face the foreign funding case. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf should prove in front of law that the party is innocent and all the allegations levelled against them are baseless and wrong, (“ECP orders daily hearing in PTI’s foreign funding case,” Nov.22, Gulf Today).

The civilian government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s main task is to fight against corruption in the country and it claims that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf is the only party that is clean in the country.

The foreign funding case is long been pending in the Election commission of Pakistan against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf that has to be solved once and for all.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ordered day-to-day hearing of the foreign funding case against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

The order came after the opposition’s Rehbar Committee submitted an application, asking the ECP to decide the case before the expiry of the term of the chief election commission (ECE) on Dec.6.

In the application submitted to ECP Secretary Babar Yaqub Fateh Mohammad, the representatives of nine opposition parties urged the ECP to hear the case on a daily basis.

The application addressed to CEC retired Justice Sardar Mohammad Raza was signed by Rehbar Committee’s convener Akram Khan Durrani of the Jamiat Ulemae Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Farhatullah Babar and Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secretary general Ahsan Iqbal, Mian Iftikhar Hussain of the Awami National Party, Mohammad Shafiq Pasroori of the Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith, Usman Kakar of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and Tahir Bizenjo of the National Party.

The application pointed out that the foreign funding case against the PTI had been pending with the ECP for the past five years. “We urge that in the interest of justice the case may be heard on a daily basis and decided at the earliest during the term of the Commission CEC.”

Without using any delaying tactics Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf — that is ruling in the country presently — should face the case on daily basis and get clean of the entire allegations, which are levelled against it.
