The CNN website included the article headlined ‘Uber suffers another blow as it loses McDonald’s delivery monopoly in the UK’. The specifics of the matter are irrelevant, it’s the general idea of ordering home delivery of a hamburger. Who could be so lazy?
Originally it was only Pizza that was home delivered and that was mainly because it was a novelty and we were also too lazy to drive or sometimes too drunk to drive. Surely it should have stayed at that level, but the cuisine has improved to top quality restaurants delivery as well as some at the other end of the culinary scale.
The time of hunting and gathering has moved to the phoning and waiting. There are even some new apartments where because space is at a premium the only food preparation space is for a microwave. Some people wonder why there is a problem with obesity although it should be obvious really.
Some schools are also banning deliveries to students both because most of the food delivered is fast food and it means unknown people are entering the school premises.
Time to start cooking for yourself and packing lunches for everyone else.
