While it’s usually the lead actor of a TV show who gets all the attention on and off screen, we think it’s time to pay homage to the supporting actor. This week we take a look at some of the best supporting actors out there.
Supporting actors give flavour to a show. Take Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, daughter of Ned Stark, in “Game of Thrones” for example. She was feisty, different, a rebel of a time when men had all the power. And in the end, she was the one who killed the Night King. Maisie was nominated for several Emmy and SAG awards during her time on the incredibly popular show which ended last year.
In the recently released “High Fidelity,” Zoe Kravitz plays the main character of Rob who is a record store owner in Brooklyn. However, it is Cherise played by Da ‘Vine Joy Randolph who is generating all the laughs. While Rob is a quieter more serious character, Cherise is an inspirational figure with her loud and passionate attitude towards life.
If you look at shows like “Mad Men,” Jon Hamm may be the main character but who would he be without Jared Harris, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Elisabeth Moss, Robert Morse and so many others who came and went across the series’ seven seasons. Supporting actors truly make the show stand out.
In other news this week, turn to our Week’s Pick pages to read about the new line of Barbie dolls from Mattel. In a smart move from the doll company, the new dolls are very different from the traditional blue-eyed model looking Barbie. The new line features a female doll with no hair, one with vitiligo, one with a prosthetic leg and a few others different features. There is even a doll in a wheelchair which will help disabled children tremendously.
