I cannot believe that it is time for Ramadan again. It seems like just yesterday we were preparing Iftar and gathering around to eat with the family. This week our own Saleha Irfan is taking a look at the working mum and the challenges she faces at running a household, looking after children and dealing with all the constraints to do with the coronavirus.
Saleha looks back at her own experiences of Ramadan with her mother who is a doctor. Iftar and Suhoor were always prepared, no matter what. Being married herself now, Saleha understands the challenges faced by her mum. That’s always the way isn’t it? We never truly grasp the value of something until we are put in that situation ourselves.
Another supermum, Hijab Amer, who is mother to a 5-year-old starts prepping her household a month in advance. With a full-time job and different shift duties, she makes sure to tidy and organise everything in the house in advance for Ramadan, she’ll prepare snacks for the entire month in order to save prep time.
Dyana Al Ayyat, a single mum of two young children and a busy job, believes that the spirituality of Ramadan is what is most important. Therefore, she avoids unnecessary shopping and invests time in teaching her boys about the Quran and completing all Taraweeh prayers. These mums truly are super mums for everything they do.
