Yes we know, another week of being inside has passed and we are climbing the walls; some of us literally. This week we are looking at how you need to be taking care of your skin while staying at home and the effect being inside has on our complexions.
First of all, the stress and anxiety most of us are experiencing does no good for our skin. Stress is a recognised trigger for inflammation and skin conditions which include acne, psoriasis and eczema. We’ve said it before, try to manage your stress. Meditate, try to move; even if it’s just by doing ten jumping jacks every hour. Manage your stress and anxiety and you will see these skin conditions calm down.
Being at home is a perfect opportunity to get into the kitchen and experiment with some DIY homemade face masks. Get into your fridge and see what you can use. From yoghurt to avocados and bananas, you can make a deliciously nourishing facemask if you just get creative enough. Manuka honey is an excellent one to try as it is known for its healing and hydrating properties.
Another big issue is the matter of SPF. Many of us believe that since we are not going outside then we don’t need to use sunscreen. This is so wrong. You catch the sun by just standing at the window, especially with our strong rays here and summer heat already beginning. Use sunscreen, you are at the risk of UV exposure which causes ageing of the skin.
In other news this week, turn to our Travel pages to learn about how you can experience Barcelona, all from the comfort of your sofa. Virtual tours and live online experiences are becoming quite popular due to people not being able to travel. While it may be far from the real thing, at least it’s something to do while we ride this virus out.
