UAE’s spirit of resilience cannot be locked down

It is the spirit of determination in facing challenges, as well as faith in fulfilling the hardest missions that has made the UAE one of the most adorable nations.  

At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown a gargantuan challenge to nations across the globe, the UAE has been able to bounce back with reinvigorated energy due to its power of resilience.

Dubai is a world leader in business and tourism. Dubai’s bold decision to welcome tourists from July 7 after a closure of more than three months to contain the COVID-19 outbreak highlights it’s never-give-up spirit and the high level of confidence that prevails across the board.

The UAE leadership has already put a robust mechanism in place to safeguard the health of residents and visitors.

As pointed out by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, and Chairman of flydubai, the decisions to issue new travel protocols for citizens, residents and tourists travelling through Dubai airports and welcome returning residents, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will strengthen the economy by boosting one of its major pillars, the tourism and travel sector.

The impetus received by the new announcement will enable the national carriers to reinforce their leading position in the global travel industry.

The skies are already filling up. Emirates Airlines has gradually recommenced more passenger services. It recently announced resumption of flights to 10 additional cities, taking the total number of destinations to which it currently operates flights to 40.

flydubai’s operations have already enabled 23,000 people stranded in Dubai to return to their home countries while its cargo flights helped transport essential goods to Dubai and other global destinations.

Sports activities too are returning.

The Dubai International Marine Club, DIMC, has announced the opening of the registration for the Dubai Watersports Summer Week in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council as directed by Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Sports Council and the President of the DIMC, in the response to the decision of the national authorities in the emirate to resume sports activities in Dubai.

It is expected to be a fun-filled weekend in Dubai Beaches with the participation of the various sectors of society and water sports enthusiasts in line with the government’s plan to gradually open all sectors of life in the emirate and complies with instructions issued by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, and related government agencies.

In Sharjah, under the directives of the Sharjah Executive Council, the Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources, SDHR, has announced that up to half of the Sharjah government employees will be allowed to return to their workplaces from Sunday, June 28, 2020, to strengthen government work and gradually return employees to their workplaces.

In accordance with the official announcement around easing restrictions on a number of activities for children under 12, Al-Futtaim Malls welcomed back its younger visitors this weekend with special kid-sized masks to ensure they are kept safe when shopping in both Dubai Festival City Mall and Festival Plaza.

It is heartening that the country of happiness is bouncing back even while taking all the rightly-needed precautions against the pandemic.
