While we should be planning our holidays and trips right now, this summer is of course going to be a little different. While we wait on airline schedules and new travel rules, we can certainly take a look at what’s happening in the world of television at the moment, with a focus on exciting new shows that will help get us through these sweltering days.
“Little Voice” is described as an intensely romantic story from executive producer J.J. Abrams. The series tells the story of a young singer from New York who is struggling to make ends meet and get her career going. I know we have heard this plot a million times before, but there’s something special about this one. Brittany O’Grady plays the lead and the show features original music from Sara Bareilles.
In “Perry Mason,” Matthew Rys plays the main character in an eight-episode series. The title character lives paycheque to paycheque as a low-rent private investigator. Living in Depression-era Los Angeles doesn’t help matters. There are lots of aspects and dimensions to this show at it is well worth watching.
Based on a book by the same name, “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark” is a six-part documentary series that explores writer Michelle McNamara’s investigation into the dangerous world of a serial killer. She probed into the man who terrorised California in the 70s and 80s and who is responsible for numerous home invasions and rapes. Sadly, she died two years before he was a arrested and interestingly, he turned out to be a former cop.
