This week our Fitness columnist Elaine Superio poses a set of questions to some strong ladies on how they have managed to stay fit and motivated over the last few months. Thankfully things are starting to ease and gyms are reopening, but we still have to be careful.
Ann Barcelona is part of the Dragon Warriors Dubai, meaning she is a dragon boat paddler. She explains that when the team’s paddling sessions weren’t taking place, they still managed to keep their fitness up by doing solo workouts with monthly challenges to keep the morale going. Ann claims that each one of us are responsible for our own fitness and what we do with it.
Amna Alshamsi struggled to work out without group classes but found the will power to keep moving. Her advice is to plan your day ahead of time and set a specific time for your workouts. Diet is also extremely important and was a big factor in her maintaining her fitness during lockdown she explains.
The key here is to remember that consistency is key. No matter what is going on around you, if you can find the time to work out for even 30 minutes, it will keep you on track and feeling good. I struggled with the home workouts but tried to do one every other day and that worked for me.
