UAE’s youth empowerment a global model

As countries marked the World Youth Skills Day 2020, the UAE had a special reason to cheer. The youth have been getting all-round support from the leadership to win and shine in all spheres.

The UAE Government attaches great importance to the role of youth and their empowerment in order to enable them to shoulder responsibilities, innovate and contribute to the welfare of the UAE’s community.

Achievement of Vision 2021 requires the skills, energy, enthusiasm and commitment of the country’s young people.

Shamma Bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the Arab Youth Centre, AYC, has asserted, “The youth skills ecosystem is a cornerstone of any plans to upskill the youth and make sure they are on the same pace as the rapid developments taking place around the world, particularly in light of the current situation and the challenges the world is now up against, which call on us to set a clear foundation to help the youth develop several skills to enhance their resilience in the job market of the future.”

The UAE’s wise leadership is committed to supporting the youth in all fields by implementing a world-leading approach in empowering young people and helping them develop skills to enhance their international role and contribute, alongside their international peers, in driving sustainable development and prosperity across all communities, achieving progress, and forecasting a better future for humanity as a whole.

The UAE prides itself on its world-leading experience; the country is committed to supporting and empowering young people with the necessary skills and methods to enhance their international role and enable them to be the UAE’s voice around the world, as the minister points out.

This was made evident when groups of young Emiratis joined meetings of the United Nations’ General Assembly, as well as through the UAE United Nations Youth Delegates Programme, where young people can present their views regarding various global issues, share their skills and knowledge with young people from around the world, and discuss youth-centric issues with decision makers and world leaders.

The youth initiatives include Emirates Youth Professional School, which offers a unique experience blending knowledge and practical experiences, led by experts and professionals whose experience and skills can teach and inspire young people to pursue their dreams and explore their talent. Emirates Youth Summer Academy is another such initiative.

Saeed Mohammed Al Nazari, Director-General of the Federal Youth Authority, FYA, and Chief Strategy Officer at the Arab Youth Centre, has also rightly stressed that the UAE has presented an innovative global model in empowering young people and providing them with skills that qualify them to deal with all future requirements.

The inauguration of a Youth Centre earlier on Abu Dhabi Corniche by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces highlights the keenness of the leadership to encourage youth to dream big and unleash their potential.

The centre, located on an area of 4,500-square metres, was built through the efforts, participation and management of young people in less than one year to embrace their creativity and enable them to exploit their full potential.

The UAE leadership deserves praise for prioritising the youth in development plans and considering them the country’s true wealth.
